Laptop Computer

Portable DVD Players vs. Computer LaptopsLaptops are, without doubt, useful devices with their big screen sizes and a wide range of additional features. However, taking a laptop with you for the purpose of watching movies, is all too often a futile idea. A portable DVD player comes in all sizes and is easily portable. The clarity of a 7 inch LCD screen is adequate for clear viewing and easy mobility, unlike laptops which take up a great deal of room in your luggage and tend to annoy anyone sitting next to you. Although some laptops offer potential battery life of three or more hours, there is much more to consume power – the laptop central processing unit (CPU) alone consumes a great deal of power as evidenced by the heat generated. In fact, a laptop’s battery life will rarely allow you to watch an entire movie. Portable DVD players normally have built-in video output jacks that allow you to connect to a hotel TV or your home system. Most laptops do not feature video outputs other than standard VGA which is fine for large LCD or Plasma screens which offer VGA inputs but may require an adapter for other AV systems. Most good quality laptops are still relatively costly and an inexpensive laptop cannot replace a portable DVD player quality-wise. Cheap laptops offer poor display screens and performance. In addition, if you lose a laptop while travelling, it is vastly more painful than losing an inexpensive portable DVD player.ConclusionA portable DVD player is a device designed solely for the purpose of playing DVDs. It has enough battery life to comfortably watch an entire movie. Its extra multimedia functions and features are bonuses, especially for children. A laptop, in contrast, must also run power hungry devices as part of its core operation. Playing DVDs and games are thus only a small part of its activity. Given limited portability, higher risk, battery life and connectivity issues, a portable DVD player proves to be the more attractive option for most people.
Are Computers right for Children?
-Children are precious and we as parents want the best for them. We want them to be smart, articulate, loveable, creative, and able to adjust to life's circumstances appropriately. What are some ways that your child/ren can really benefit from the technology of today's fast paced society? How about giving them a tool to widen their world of learning? Why not give them a computer!Your young pre-school child can greatly benefit from exploring a computer perfectly designed for a varity of developmental levels. Using a mouse to click on various options, to see what will happen, is a wonderful way to increase curiosity and exploration. Young children need plenty of time to do this.Growing up in a household where computers were always being used around me has contributed to my love for computers! Having a computer of my own at a young age really prepared me for the work environment later in life. I was able to grasp technical concepts quickly and utilize the computer software applications so effectively that I trained many others on the various software applications being introduced on the job.Your child can improve his or her ability to keep up with the ever changing technology if you expose them early (3-4) years) to using computers with appropriate software. When children have free access to computers and are able to control their own learning experience through exploration the computer can have a tremendously positive impact on their future learning experiences.Providing children with minimal help gives them the confidence that they can operate the computer successfuly. Observe them and ask them questions about what they are doing to help expand their computer experiences.Purchase kids computers that are specifically designed for their learning styles. They will be thrilled to have their very own learning toy packed with programs just right for them. Young children can learn mathematical concepts through number and counting games, spelling and vocabulary games. Kid's computers will give them hours of fun and entertainment while they learn valuable skills.Learning about another culture through beginning Spanish lessons will enhance the development of language skills! KR Electronics and Batteries carries a unique selection of quality kid's computers at affordable prices. It is important that older children have ready access to computers in their home and at school to keep them from becoming affected by the ever increasing 'digital divide' between high and low income families. The computer software they use should be specifically designed to help them improve in their ablility to write, create stories with multimedia clips that they generate themselves to illustrate their storiies. Their software should include science experimentation, nature projects, and problem solving. The right sofware programs will help them in intelligence non-verbal skills, long-term memory development, problem solving, abstract concepts, manual dexterity and other congnitive skills.Ideally, each child should have their own computer specifically with software appropriate for their age level. School aged children need to have simple word processing capability so they can write reports. Vocabulary and grammar features. Determine exactly what you would like your children to experience while they learn from using the computer. Empower them to take control of this powerfull tool in their lives.
